Christmas in Kavala

The municipality of Kavala and DIMOFELIA organise various festive events at the central square as well as in other parts of the city, lasting roughly one month. These events include: Christmas village, ice skating, carousel, musical and dancing performances from the local cultural societies, games and fairytales to entertain the children, and many concerts from well known artists.

Alphabet Parade (Carnival)

Students of all the Primary Schools of Kavala masquerade themselves depending on each year’s theme, and parade through the streets dancing to the music heard throughout the city. In addition, various events take place in several parts of the city, such as singing and dancing contests, workshops, karaoke, games with clowns etc.

Ash Monday

Traditionally, people of Kavala used to “catch the snake” in Kalamitsa. Over the last few years, the same custom takes place in Faliro Park. There is music, lenten dishes and creative workshops for children.
